The Mets and D’Backs had a deal in place that would send ace Brad Arnold to the Mets, but the trade was void when Arnold refused to waive his no-trade clause.
“I love it here in Arizona, and I was upset when I learned they were trying to move me,” he stated, “and I don’t want to be thrown into a rebuilding situation.”
It was the second deal of the day to be void by a NTC, when earlier in the day Tigers’ LF Cody Johnson refused to waive his no-trade clause to Florida.
The Mets are extremely outraged over Brad Arnold’s refusal to waive his NTC.
“I don’t understand his argument that we’re a rebuilding team”, said Mets GM tunit, “we’re simply retooling our roster while exchanging some of our core players for better, younger players. We wanted to include Arnold in a process that will almost certainly bring success back to New York.”
“I also feel it should also be noted that the teams on Arnold’s short list are the Marlins, Astros, Jays, and White Sox. The apathy against our roster retooling simply makes no sense when examining the clubs Brad wants to join.
